$40,000 does seem to be a little low for the only existing cultural item from a civilization that has been completely destroyed.
Also, you’d think they’d include a book or something in their “only one person will ever know we existed” probe.
The auctioneers could’ve at least watched the episode. That alone would have improved their appraisal.
Even family guy mentioned that episode
Well, MacFarlane is an unabashed Trekkie.
Just searching the episode title would have gone a long way, it’s all over lists of top episodes.
Oh great, how many people are gonna go watch that and come back here and start making memes…
I look forward to it
Good, good.
Edit: had to change gifs 'cause what displayed before posting was apparently not the full gif and made no sense afterwards.
Which valuation is reasonable depends entirely on whether or not it’s been cleaned.
Definitely wants that authentic Picard spittle residue.
He plays it in other episodes, too. I assume it’s the same one, no reason for the prop department to make two.
I’m sure it is. Only going to point out that he “plays” it about as much as Bowie “juggled” those crystals.
How would they get another guy’s lips to play it while picard is in frame? I mean sure, he probably doesn’t actually make music with it, but there’s no reason he wouldn’t have put it to his actual lips.
They wouldn’t. The audio was dubbed.
So the spittle is still authentic!
